Naicker Community

Our title is derived from the Sanskrit word Nayaka, meaning a leader. Our community history is region-specific. For instance, in Tamil Nadu several castes such as Vanniyar Naicker, Tholuva Naicker (Tulava Naicker), Vettalakara Naicker and Thottai Naicker are prevalent. Thottia Naickers are settled in Tiruppur, Sathyamangalam and Gopichettipalayam. In Kerala, the title is used by the Jen Kurumbas (jungle inhabitants), in Wynad.
